What is the Best Icebreaker?

You can ONLY Pick one!

Comment on a knickknack. Notice what’s prominently displayed in his office — a family photo, a souvenir — and make a thoughtful, respectful remark about it.

Ask him about his career. Most people like talking about themselves, so inquiring about something in the executive’s past experience will definitely warm him up.

Mention a shared cultural event. You know that he follows local the sports teams. Talking about the big win (or bemoaning the big loss) shows that you’re on his team.

Jump into the sales call. He’s probably a cold fish who doesn’t want you wasting his time. The best way to get him on your side is to get to the point as quickly as possible.

These three icebreakers are weak:

Comment on a knickknack. While this is a common icebreaker in business environments, almost everybody who comes into that office for the first time has made that exact same remark. You just told the customer that you’re unimaginative and boring.

Mention a shared cultural event. This might build rapport, but the rapport you’re building has nothing to do with the reason for your sales call. When you transition to “selling,” there will a jarring disconnect that leaves the customer with the impression that you were only kissing up.

Jump into the sales call. Risky. Very risky. In many parts of the country and the world, it’s considered bad manners to jump into a business conversation at the beginning of a meeting. This might work in New York City, but it would fall flat in, say, Miami or Los Angeles.

This one is the best:

Ask her or him about their career. If you ask a perceptive question about a conference where they spoke or a company where he worked, you’re showing that you’ve done your research and cared enough to learn something about the person you’re meeting. What’s more, you’ve started building rapport on a business basis, thereby creating a conversation that will more easily lead into a discussion of the problems and opportunities that your offering might address.

Listening is more important than talking.

Some other casual good ice breakers are:

"Hi! How are you today?"
"What a nice jacket (shirt, shoes, etc). Where did you get it?"
"What a sweet child, are you a stay at home mom?"
"Gosh this line is long today. I'm going to remember not to shop here at this time again."

Here are some things you can do to keep the conversation moving:

Complement them on how friendly they are:

"You're so friendly. You know, I really admire that in other people." (Wait for a response) I actually own my own business and I'm always looking for friendly people. Have you ever thought of doing something alongside your regular job to make some extra money?"

If it's a woman, ask her a question about her clothing, purse, or a purchase in her cart:

"I love your pin! Where did you get it?" (wait for her to respond- she will often respond with a complement)

"This is my company pin actually. I own my own independent consulting business with L'Bri Pure n' Natural."

(Wait for a response, usually people will ask "What's that?).

"It's a natural skin care company. I help women with their skin care and also sponsor other women to start their own home based businesses. I've gotta say, it's a great job to have to make some extra money for my family."

Talk about your children.

The first couple of times you open conversations with strangers might feel like the scariest times of your life. Another way to look at it is an exhilarating way to develop your personality, be more outgoing, and take your business to new heights.

Scam Titles: The e-mails that tell us we've won the lottery or that someone wants to send us a bunch of money or maybe even one that told us we won an iPod or a laptop. They are all junk! just delete them from your Inbox as quickly as possible.

Phishing e-mails: These types of fraud e-mails in an attempt to trick you into giving out some of your personal information, etc. This could be anything from your passwords to your bank account information, etc. The most popular ones are PayPal and different banks by clicking on a link to verify some information and once you do that, you're done.

Unsubscribing to: Fake newsletters and then provide you with a link that will allow you to unsubscribe if you'd like. Clicking on that Unsubscribe button may not help you may have to BLOCK block the e-mail address that the newsletters are coming from. ( The email program I use for marketing has an Unsubscribe link that DOES work YOU CAN TEST IT HERE - Subscribe to Denise's L'Bri Pure n' Natural newsletter

Blocking that Spam: Do you delete it or do you actually add the address it came from to your blacklist? The best thing to do is add it to your list.

Scanning Those Attachments: Most Attachments are very likely to carry viruses. It's very important that you scan all attachments.

Using Passwords: If you use a simple password, hackers will be able to crack it in a matter of seconds - A strong password should have at least eight characters and use both small and capital letters when typing it out.

Digital Signatures: Use digital signatures at the end of your e-mails. They make it a lot harder for anyone to modify your signature and change all of your information around and prove where certain e-mails come from and who they're sent by. Find information about getting your own digital signature by searching for the term with any search engine.

Should You Approve Spam Comments On Your Blog?

Spam comments can be a pain in the butt.

They can take up a lot of time to sort through and delete.
But should you delete them all? You should delete most of them, but you might want to save a few. I would not approve any of the following type of spam comments at all:

•Comments from insurance companies, gambling sites, porn sites, or viagra
•Spam comments left by your competition
•Comments from anonymous commenters
•That link to 404 pages or nonexistent websites
•Comments that appear as trackbacks but that do not link back to your blog from the site when you visit them (be sure you visit the website of all your commenters to see who is linking to you)
•One line comments that contain no substance
•Comments that contain excessive links within them

If you get a spam comment that you know is spam but that uses your keywords and that don’t link back to any dangerous websites or neighborhoods then you can go ahead and approve the comments. You shouldn’t see any harm to your site if you do, and if you don’t have too many of them.

Scan your card in and use it as a graphic for when you exchange links with other websites. The other site can use your graphic as the link.

As a consultant, your job is to connect prospective customers with L’Bri products. You
don’t have to process orders, pack, or ship products to customers. The L’Bri office in
Wisconsin takes care of all of that for you. Your job is to just find customers and sell

How do You sell L’Bri Products?

You can sell L’Bri Products in a variety of ways. The most common, is to book traditional shows with a hostess and several of her friends. There are other ways to sell, so go ahead and read each of the options below to see which one(s) will work the best for you.

Mich. Prepares to Release Jobless Rates

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan officials are preparing to report the state's regional unemployment rates for July.

The report due Thursday will break down the jobless rates in 17 major regions and in each of Michigan's 83 counties.

The statewide jobless rate for July was a national high of 15 percent.

As you've probably already guessed, I work my L'Bri business a little differently from other direct sales consultants. One thing that really sets me apart is my follow up system.

Because most of my customers order online, they usually don't expect to receive a telephone call from me asking about their order. I really only use the phone for sponsoring, training, and if

Learn To Manage Your Time

What you must learn about time is - that time management is impossible.

Why in the heck would I talk about time management if it was impossible?

The simple fact is time is always ticking away.
You do not need not to MANAGE your time, but learn HOW to USE it more effectively.

1. Get up earlier - If you're working entirely from home, your schedule doesn't run on a timeclock. It can be very easy to cheat away the time in the morning by sleeping late and eating a big breakfast and drinking coffee for and hour or so.

2. Check your email last - This took me forever to get into my head!
I use to get up every morning turn on my computer, head to the kitchen make a pot of coffee. Head to the bathroom and cleanse, tone and moisturize my face. Head back to the kitchen pour a cup of coffee make me breakfast...another cup of joe and head to my computer and open my email. After 10 or so email's back to the kitchen for another cup of coffee and back to my emails. Now I have wasted over TWO hours or more.

You will learn that email's will soon become a very time consuming part of your life. If you start your day with 10 messages to reply to, by the time you get done with them all, you'll be burnt toast on writing for the day. When you're working online, always start with the hardest task first - writing that first article, or finishing up on an ebook. Alway complete the hardest task first, then move on to the easier tasks.

Learn the Article in the Moment Writing - I used to spend hours trying to think of all the articles I wanted to concentrate on in the coming month and write down all the titles on a piece of paper. I very actually never used many of those ideas because they just weren't inspiring. That led to a very cluttered desk that I could hardly find.

So when you feel that spark of inspiration to write an article, don't wait. Jot the article down on paper if you're not near a computer and make sure to get that up online as soon as possible.

Go to bed earlier - NOT everything must be done before we go to bed. The simple fact is, your site and your business will never be "done" but continual works in progress.

And on the page, you link to your individual articles, categories, date archives, tag clouds, policy page, and of course your feed subscription link. Between all those pages, which one will be the most suitable to rank the highest on the search engine result pages (SERP)?

I'm sure you agree that it's the individual post pages. You don't need your policy page to rank #1 on SERP more than your featured post, do you?

You can start re-arranging how your blog handles links by adding no follow to internal pages you don't need them to appear on search engines. Or at least, you don't need them to rank high. Internal links to consider are:

1. The link to your own homepage - people say the more links pointing to a certain page, the higher the page will rank. It's true...if the link comes from a different domain.

2. Your feed link - some of you may disallow your feed to be indexed. This way, there's no use to link them with dofollow since search engines won't list them. If no one will see it, no use to dress it. If for any reasons you allow indexing of your feed, nofollow is still needed. Unless you want to generously flow your hard earned gold links to Feedburner or Feedblitz which they already abundantly have.

3. Your tag cloud, date and category based archive - I set my robots.txt to block search engines from indexing those pages. That's why, for the same reasons as above, links to them don't need to be dofollowed.

4. Your policy page - Simply put, there's still a lot of thirsty new articles gasping for fresh link juice.

5. Your sitemap page - You don't need to have your sitemap indexed if you have submitted it to search engines. Less pages indexed means you can feed more articles the dofollow links.

6. Links to your authors page - Some of you may need the authors page to get a good SERP. Some who don't can no-follow these links.

7. Links to edit your post - Definitely no-follow in my opinion.

8. Links to categories archive - It also depends on if you'd like the categories archive page to hit the #1 page of Google or prioritizing the individual posts. I myself prefer my individual posts rather than categories archive pages.

9. Links to the comment section - It's useful for navigation, but I suggest to address them no-follow.

10. Page numbers navigation - If your categories archive is divided into multiple pages and you don't follow links to your category archives, then you need to follow it up by no-following page number links.

11. Subscribe to comments links - Usually they point to your feed service. But if they go to your own feed address, you can no-follow them for the same reason as #2

12. Links to enlarged pictures - Some of you may value pictures higher for your topic/niche, so the decision depends on your purposes with those pictures.

13. Blogroll...? - The decision is completely up to you. But don't let them know what you're doing.

14. Links to popular pages - like Google.com, Facebook.com, you name them. Again, the decision is yours. If you feel like giving them a credit, do so.

15. Commentator names - Depends on whether you're following your commentators or not, you can always switch the to no-follow/do-follow.

Before looking for more links to no-follow, I'd like to remind you of links you should follow . Not much, they are supposed to be your theme author link, your blogroll (depends on you), links your posts are referring to (if any) and sites/blogs inspire your posts.

Hopefully before applying further link-building strategy , you can provide some time to analyze your link flows and optimize them to get the best results.

To Sell More, Scare Customers Spitless!

Here’s a new idea: to increase sales, scare the living bejezzus out of your customers. According to high tech guru Geoffrey Moore, some B2B vendors are motivating customers to buy (even during hard times) by identifying something that terrifies them and then developing a sales pitch that explains the horror in an insightful, actionable way.

Sound crazy? Yup. But according to Moore, this weird technique actually works. He cites the example of the software vendor Sybase, which was able throughout the summer of 2008 to pry business out of financial services clients, even as their industry was beginning to implode.

Rather than probing for what those clients thought they might need, Sybase reps pointed out the impending disaster likely to result from an industry-wide failure to manage risk. By explaining the scale of the threat in all its gory details, Sybase was able to sell its Risk Analytics Platform, a tool for integrating risk management.

Moore calls this method “provocation-based selling.” The key, according to him, is to develop a pitch that doesn’t align with the customer’s outlook, and doesn’t identify and respond to the customer’s proverbial “pain points.” Instead, you must provide a new angle on the situation by outlining a problem the customer hasn’t yet put a name to.

Of course, this only works if you’ve got the credibility and personality that inspires confidence in a crisis. And you’ve got to be careful how you play this card. You can’t just stand up and blast your pitch to all and sundry, or you’ll only harden the cognitive dissonance.

Instead, you’ve got to pitch the story to a carefully chosen line executive in one crucial meeting. You’ll also need incontrovertible proof that the problem is real, with evidence that proves that you’ve got a firm handle on the problem’s scope and depth. You’ll also need a short diagnostic study that maps the horror onto the prospect firm’s own financials.

The game plan? Once you’ve scared the living daylights out of the key executive, you help that executive save the company by selling your offering as preventative to the impending disaster.

The advantage of framing the sale this way is that the immediacy of the threat creates a readiness to listen, while the diagnostic study helps convert the dialogue into an actual contract.

There are two disadvantages, though. First, it can take considerable time and effort to develop a credible pitch with all the relevant evidence and proof points.

Second, and more importantly, if you’re not careful, you can scare the exec so badly that you’ll get a “deer in the headlights” rather than a motivated customer.

Really a straight forward question. Typically it costs anywhere from $100 - $500 to join any direct sales company and this includes the cost of your starting kit, training materials, promotional materials, and products that will get you started in the business.

While your starting kit will get you started, I recommend picking up any additional items you can afford.

Do you have to pay an annual renewal fee?

GREAT question to ask right at the very beginning so you don't get surprised later. Renewal fees range from $30 - $500 in some companies! There are two steps to signing up a new Consultant.

#1 Fill out the Consultant Application.

#2 Pick out a web page name and order the Showcase.

New Consultants must sign up on their Sponsors Web Page. You can sign them up or they can sign up themselves. Once the New Consultant receives their web page, they will need to purchase their Starter Kit. If they are not purchasing the kit when their website is created, please do not sign them up until they are able to do so.

#1. From the sponsors web page click on Income Opportunity, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Consultant Application, fill this in and click Submit.This application will also ask for your sponsor's name and information. Fill out that section with my information below:

#2. From the sponsors web page click on Income Opportunity, then click on Click Here to Get Started Today.

You will need to create a New Consultants User Name.

For example, if the new Consultants name is Mary Smith, you may want to choose marys (Only enter marys Do not enter the entire web page address). Click on Try Name. If your first choice is not available, continue choosing something similar until it becomes available. This will become a part of the New Consultants web page address and will also be their User Name. (Enter letters and numbers only! Please do not use spaces or other characters. Use lower case letters only, no capital letters.)

A New Consultants Web Page Address would then look like this: www.marys.lbri.com. If you are signing up a new Consultant, we suggest the password to be the same as their web page name (marys). This will make it easier for them to remember their User Name and Password. The New Consultant can change the password once they have their web address. Be sure to record the new web page address and password if need be, these both can be changed later by the home office.

Continue to enter in the New Consultants name, address, e-mail, etc. Once finished filling in the information, click Submit. Your New Consultants web page will be created.

From the Welcome to L'Bri page click on Go Shopping, click on the category Supply Showcases and order the Showcase.

Supply Showcases Category. If you choose, you can also order additional retail products (with the 20% - 30% Consultant discount, retail orders of $150 or more receive 30% off) and Supply Items. When finished placing the order, click Continue and review your order. Continue to Payment Page and fill in payment information.

IMPORTANT:

The New Consultants Name must be in BOTH the Billing and Shipping Fields. The sponsor cannot pay for a New Consultants Starter Kit.

A Consultant cannot place a retail order until a kit is purchased.

Family members who are in the same household cannot become L'Bri Consultants. For example, a father and daughter with the same address cannot both be Consultants.

Orders cannot be submitted and sent to the Consultants address using their spouse as a Customer.

The best thing would be to take your computer in to a professional technician to have them look at it. These suggestions are pretty much routine maintenance and usually require fairly simple changes. Plus, you can always backtrack to put any changes below back to where they were.

Do not use any Auto Fill in for username or passwords

Do not use the Back Button to go back and add another order, New Customer or New Consultant
Do not walk away from your computer during an order entry, New Customer or New Consultant. Your computer will time out.

Getting errors are usually due to your security settings, browser, firewall or virus protection. These suggestions have worked for some, BUT not everyone.

Here are some things to try: Are you using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your browser? If not, here you can get a free version: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1E1550CB-5E5D-48F5-B02B-20B602228DE6&displaylang=en.

Using Internet Explorer, go to any web page, click Tools then Internet Options. In the middle of this page, click Delete Cookies OK, Delete Files OK.

At the top of the box click Security, then under Security level for this zone, move the slider bar down to the lowest level (you can change it back later). Then at the top of the box, next to Security, click Privacy, move the slider bar to the lowest level.

You also want to be sure you have the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Go here to update - http://update.microsoft.com/ and then re boot your computer.

If none of the above help and you're still getting errors try:

Disabling virus protection when working at your L'Bri page. In the lower right corner, move your mouse slowly over each of the Icons. One of them should say Internet Security or virus protection or something similar. Right click on that Icon and click Disable (right click to enable later).

Do some system maintenance. Click the Start button, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools. Then depending on your system run, Disk clean up, Disk defragmenter, Scandisk.

Re boot your computer.

L’Bri now has over 10,000 square feet of office, shipping and warehouses. L’Bri is located in Mukwonago WI. Mukwonago is approximately ½ hour from Milwaukee and one hour from Chicago. Through teamwork, hard work, exceptional products and dedicated sales consultants, L’Bri is entirely debt-free. What does that mean? Linda and Brian have complete control over their company, without the need to please outside investors whose only interest is in the bottom line. Without having to answer to investors - at the expense of their distributors - the Kaminski’s are able to maintain their commitment to the quality and price of their products, as well as their commitment to their consultants.
